BOYD COUNCIL APPOINTS NEW DEPARTMENT HEADS — Familiar faces can be seen in leadership roles in the town of Boyd. Dwayne Taylor was named the new city administrator, Josh Compton was named police chief and Robert Lumpkin was named director of public works at a city council meeting on Thursday. All three have previously served the city in other positions.
NIGHT CRUISE – Cruise Night on Courthouse Square returns Saturday from 4-8 p.m. to downtown Decatur. Registration is from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m., $15 per vehicle. Awards in 20 classes. The streets will be closed to pedestrian traffic. Call 940-399-9558.

NEW FAIRVIEW TRAFFIC ALERT – Southbound US 81/287 will be reduced to one lane as needed from County Road 4228 to Farm Road 407 for maintenance activities from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday, 6-10 June and June 13-17, weather permitting. Motorists should expect delays.

CHURCH SALE SALE — Boyd First United Methodist Church will hold a church-wide rummage sale from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. today and 8 a.m. to noon Saturday.

BLOOD COLLECT – A Carter BloodCare blood drive will be held Saturday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Chico Senior Center, 201 S. Buffalo St., during the Chico Spring Festival. OWL ACTIVITY CENTER – The Wise County Committee on Aging is holding a grand opening and ribbon cutting at 11 a.m. today for the Owls Activity Center, 1200 North Miller Street. Lunch and ice cream will be offered.

KID OF FISH – The Texas Game Warden Ronnie Brooks Memorial Kids Fish is at 7:30 a.m. Saturday at Wise County Park. The event is free. Hot dogs, snacks, t-shirt and fishing rod for 16 and under. Local game wardens and other volunteers will be on hand to assist you.

DECATUR MOBILE PANTRY – Decatur Cares Mobile Food Pantry is 8-9 a.m. Saturday in the parking lot of First United Methodist Church of Decatur. The pantry will use a drive-thru configuration. All participants will remain in their car at all times. You will be directed by volunteers where to pull your car. Volunteers will load the food box.
