Totally Wicked Stadium will host Fire and Light Spectacular

After a two-year absence due to the coronavirus pandemic, the St Helens fireworks display will return this Bonfire Night with a new look.

New to this year’s show will be entertainment in the form of local dancers, singers and DJs, before an incredible laser light show and fireworks display.

Spectators will also get a first look at what the men and women of the Saints will be wearing in next year’s special 150e Anniversary season in which the club’s 2023 kits will be launched.

Official Saints merchandise will also be available for purchase in the evening, along with food and drink on offer from kiosks around the stadium.

Due to much of the stadium being needed for fireworks and other entertainment, capacity will be limited to 5,000 in the South Stand at Totally Wicked Stadium, meaning this is a ticketed event – with family offers available and free on-board parking manage parking lots. A limited number of disabled parking spaces will be available at the stadium.

St Helens City Council’s Cabinet Member for Welfare, Culture and Heritage, Councilor Anthony Burns, said:

“We are incredibly proud to have a world-class sports team here at St Helens in the form of Saints and as a board we are always keen to seek opportunities to work with the club.

“Moving the fireworks to Totally Wicked Stadium – one of the best rugby league stadiums in the world – makes perfect sense as it is already set to stage such an event, as we have seen with recent Jacqui Abbott and Paul Heaton concert which was a special moment for the city. It’s the perfect way to kick off Saints’ 150e celebrations and our year as City Region District of Culture.

“We know times are tough for everyone at the moment, and that’s why we’ve made this event as affordable as possible and significantly cheaper than other events of a similar scale in the region – and we’re determined to put on a spectacular evening.”

Mike Rush, Saints general manager, said:

“We are delighted to partner with the council to help bring this exciting event to Totally Wicked Stadium. We’re also looking forward to unveiling our 2023 home and away kits ahead of what will be the club’s 150th anniversary.
