The fifth annual Harsens Island Charity Car Show, presented by the Harsens Island St. Clair Flats Association, will take place on July 16.

The event, scheduled from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., will take place at Browne’s Field, located at 1500 N. Channel Drive on Harsens Island. For vehicle owners, check-in will begin at 7:00 a.m.

“Every year we grow and improve, with 20 classes of cars,” said HISCFA President Craig Baloga. “Forty-one trophies are also awarded for each class, as well as the best of the exhibition, and we will be holding two 50/50 draws with fantastic prizes. This is one of the only motor shows in the country where you arrive by ferry, which really adds to the charm and uniqueness of the event.

He noted that Scott the DJ will be playing a wide variety of old classics and rock ‘n’ roll favourites, with a car theme for the music. Additionally, there will be raffle packages containing handy tools, equipment and other car essential giveaways, goody bags for the first 100 entrants, and concessions until 2:30 p.m. There will also be commemorative t-shirts for sale.

“There are also fun family events during the show, and our court has stands for tennis, pickleball, volleyball and horseshoes,” Baloga said. “A full-size baseball diamond is also next to the car show field, if people want to get a two-man team together and go nine innings.”

Judging will begin at 10:30 a.m., the first 50/50 draw will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., trophies will be awarded at 2:00 p.m., and the raffle prizes and second 50/50 draw will be drawn at 3:00 p.m. 00.

The event helps raise funds for HISCFA.

“As 501c3, this association has several projects that are quote-worthy and groundbreaking,” Baloga said. “Our major projects are the installation of permanent ‘event-grade’ restrooms, a walking path, and the purchase of an office building adjacent to Browne’s Field.”

He said organizers start planning next year’s auto show almost immediately after the current show ends.

In previous years, the event has seen 500 to 1,000 attendees.

Minor Customs, headquartered in Clinton Township, returns as the event’s title sponsor, with additional sponsor provided by JEGS, Summit Racing, RockAuto and NAPA Action Auto, who will again provide the trophies. . Russ Milne Ford donated a large cash contribution to the event, and Wasik Funeral Home is again donating three autographed jerseys to this year’s show.

Raffle giveaways were also provided by D&D Hair Salon, Catch 22 Bistro and LumberJack.

The Harsens Island Charity Car Show will run rain or shine. Registration is $10 at the door and attendees are responsible for their $15 return ferry fee per vehicle.
