For the first time, the destination of this special event in 2022 will be French Polynesia aboard Paul Gauguin, who will depart from Papeete, the Tahitian capital, on June 4.
The 11-night cruise will visit Moorea, Bora Bora, Huahine, Raiatea and Motu Mahana in the Society Islands and Rangiroa and Fakarava in the Tuamotu Islands.
The President’s Cruise, designed for Ponant Yacht Club members and new Australasian passengers, will explore the attractions, culture and cuisine of French Polynesia with Asia-Pacific Expedition Director Mick Fogg.
Highlights range from a barbecue lunch on the beach on Motu Mahana’s private Paul Gauguin island to shopping for local black pearl jewelry.
Cocktails before the cruise
Pre and post cruise hotel packages at the InterContinental Tahiti Resort & Spa are available and there will be a cocktail party to get to know the day before departure.
Bratton said Paul Gauguin’s interior renovations by French designer and architect Jean-Philippe Nuel earlier this year make the ship an ideal setting for its president’s cruise, adding “it’s great to see that Qantas and Air New Zealand both offer flights to Papeete in June next year.
