An annual fundraiser returns Thursday night, and one of the biggest country music acts of the 1990s and 2000s is stopping by the West Tennessee countryside Saturday night, because there’s plenty to do in the region this weekend.
On Thursday, My Best Friend Jenna Bridal Shop in Jackson hosts the annual Lights Camera Fashion Show to raise money for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
Communities from across West Tennessee are represented as more than 50 local models walk the runway.
High school juniors and seniors compete to raise funds for St. Jude, parade down the runway in dresses designed by Jonathan Cain, and walk for a chance to win a scholarship. The show has been known to have a few celebrity guest judges in the past. They may have more surprises in store this year.
The event takes place at the Carl Perkins Civic Center (400 South Highland Avenue in downtown Jackson) beginning at 6 p.m.
On Saturday, the Dixie Carter Performing Arts Center in the square in downtown Huntingdon will host the band Lonestar for a sold-out concert.
Lonestar became a nationally acclaimed group in the mid-1990s and had one of the biggest hits of 1999 with “Amazed” which propelled them to the ranks of the nation’s top artists for the next few years as their string of Success continued with songs like “I’m Already Here” and “What About Now”.
The show starts at 7:30 p.m.
