Mascot destroyed, chairs thrown after graduation from Glen Rock, NJ

Members of the 2021 Glen Rock High School class engaged in a destructive rampage, which the principal called “shameful,” during a post-opening event called the Grad Ball on Friday.

Glen Rock Police said they were investigating criminal mischief and thefts at the school, including the destruction of a statue of the school’s panther mascot.

Police-provided video shows overturned folding chairs and overturned planters in the field.

Police chief Dean Ackerman said around 100 students gathered in the borough early Friday morning, including tracks on NJ Transit’s Main-Bergen line. NJ Transit’s Twitter account for the rail line does not indicate any service delay on Friday morning.

In a letter to parents, principal Michael Parent said he was “heartbroken” by the actions of students who had just received their diplomas, according to the Daily Voice. Parent said he realized that they did not represent the whole class.

The parent Tuesday morning did not respond to New Jersey 101.5’s request for more information.

Ackerman said the police investigation was ongoing and asked anyone with video of the vandalism to contact his department at 201-670-3948.

The most and least vaccinated against COVID cities in NJ, by county

New Jersey reported just under 4 million people fully vaccinated against COVID-19 statewide, by the last week of May. So how does this break down across the 21 counties?

And, how can some communities have an immunization rate above 100%, according to state data? Reasons include people who have moved, those who travel and do not reside at the home where the census enumerated them, students who may choose their school residence for immunization data, and those in long-term care (or others). residential housing) among other reasons, as explained in a footnote on the state’s COVID dashboard.
