MEMPHIS, Tenn. – A man is behind bars after allegedly shooting a woman and her children over the weekend.
Joshua Harris, 24, is charged with three counts of aggravated assault, one count of intentional possession of a controlled substance and one count of possession of a firearm in a dangerous crime.
On March 12, a woman reported to police that a man had shot her with a gun in the area of Willow Road and Cranford Road, officials said.
According to an affidavit, officers were flagged down by the woman identifying Harris, who was across the street, as the person who shot her.
At the scene, officers found a used cartridge case on the street near the location, police said.
The woman said she and Harris were arguing over a cell phone while in the car when Harris pulled a handgun from her ankle and attempted to punch her, according to the affidavit.
According to reports, the woman stopped, Harris got out and he fired once in the area and once in her ear.
There were also two children in the car, police said.
Officers found a green leafy substance that later tested positive for marijuana in one of Harris’ pockets.
According to the affidavit, Harris directed police to the location of the weapon he threw when he saw police arriving.
Harris is due in court on March 14 and his bond is $75,000.
