ELKINS — Elkins picked up a 13-5 win over Big 10 Conference foe Preston on Monday night at Elkins Middle School Field.

It was the first win for Lady Tigers freshman coach Michaela Lewis-Lambert.

“We hit the ball very well” said Lewis-Lambert. “I was very proud of the girls and couldn’t have asked for much more of them.”

Senior Hallie Roy took the win on the mound and also helped her cause with a two-run brace in the first set. She went six innings and struck out five with two walks.

The contest ended with two outs in the bottom of the sixth due to the mercy rule.

Kennedy Hart, Naudia White and Ruby Jackson added two RBIs each, while Emma Judy and Emerson Haddix had one each. Kaitlin Stone added three interceptions on the night.

Judy and Sara Collins were credited with doubles.

Alexis Miller suffered the defeat of the Lady Knights (0-1).

Elkins stays home at 5:30 p.m. today to face Liberty for a double bill.
