Fremont County set to celebrate Fourth with carnival, wet parade, fireworks and more – Canon City Daily Record

Cañon City’s Independence Day celebration will be spread over four days this year.

The town of Cañon City hosts a number of events, including a two-day craft fair, live music, and a laser light show, all free and open to the community.

“People have been wanting to celebrate for quite some time,” said Tom Dixon, program director for Cañon City’s Main Street. “We decided this was something we should be able to do as a community to celebrate, have a good time with each other, and have another event that draws people in.”

Plus, the Cañon City Music & Blossom festival committee is bringing Wright’s Amusements to town. The carnival will take place July 1-4 at the top of Ninth Street and Elm Avenue. Times and entrance fees will be communicated at a later date.

Colorado Events will host the July 4th Art Fair from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on July 3 and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on July 4 at Veterans Park. The event will feature live music, arts, crafts and family fun. This extravaganza will showcase the works of over 60 juried artists with an eclectic mix ranging from paintings, sculptures and glasswork to photography, ceramics, woodwork, as well as a large selection of artisanal products.

On July 4, Six Bucks and a Flight and Mystic 7 will perform starting at 5 p.m. at the Rotary Pavilion in Centennial Park. A laser light show will start around 9:30 p.m. During the event there will be two food trucks: Butcher’s Kitchen and Feed the Flame.

Participants must bring a blanket or lawn chair to sit on.


Florence July 4th

The city of Florence will host the annual Wet / Dry Parade, starting at 10 a.m. on July 4 in downtown Florence. The parade composition for the participants will begin at 9 a.m.

On July 2, a cinematic experience with “The Sandlot” then “Dodgeball” will take place at Go Store It, located at 209 S. Robinson. The doors will open at 6 p.m. Summertime Soft Serve and Mimi’s Grill food trucks will be on site.

Food and craft vendors will be at Pioneer Park from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on July 3 and 4. City Auto Plaza will be exhibiting rigged jeeps and there will be a Mechanical Bull on July 4th.

July 3 events at Pioneer Park include Michael Dean’s, Mimi’s Grill, Kona Ice, Summertime Soft Serve, Pig-n-Out, Crash Site and Gyro Donor food trucks, beer garden, Apple Valley Cider, Music by DJ Moody from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m., A Little Loco from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. and Martini Shot from 6 p.m.

On July 4th, the Rotary Ducky Derby will take place at noon. Pioneer Park vendors include Michael Dean’s, Mimi’s Grill, Kona Ice, Summertime Soft Serve, Pig-n-Out, Crash Site and Gyro Donor food trucks, beer garden, Apple Valley Cider, music by DJ Moody and A Little Loco during the day and wrestling with Jimmy from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m.

The fireworks will be launched from Florence Junior / Senior high school at 9:15 p.m.
