Classic cars return to Carson Valley starting Thursday

August puts the cars in Carson Valley, with the Hot August Nights Poker Run lunch break returning to Minden on Thursday.

Sponsored by the Carson Valley Visitors Authority and the city, dozens of classic cars will be parked around Minden Park from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. while they pull out their cards.

The Valley Cruisers Car Club will be there to help with parking and CocoMoes food and crushed ice will be available in the park, and there are plenty of restaurants within walking distance of the park. McClain Mobile Music will spin classics. Tumblewind Antiques and Collectibles will open downtown for the first time in a year, featuring automotive-themed items.

The 33rd Annual Main Street Event Auto Show returns on August 13 to Esmeralda Avenue in Minden. Sponsored by NAPA Auto Parts, the event will start at 4 p.m.

The Main Street Cars show debuted in 1988, hosted by Valley Cruisers to bring the community together. All vehicles of interest are welcome. Cost $ 25 to show a vehicle, spectators are free.

During the event, the Carson Valley Active 20-30 Club will serve beer and three-tip sandwiches. All profits are donated to local charities.

Spectators can expect to admire all types of vehicles from old to new, racing cars, sport utility vehicles and elevated trucks while enjoying music, food and beer and the possibility of meeting.

For a hunter after the Friday night event, Dangberg Home Ranch Historic Park welcomes members of the Silver State Model T Ford Club at 10 am on August 14 with “The Car That Changed the World”.

While in Eagle, not Carson Valley, the annual Send a Scout to Camp Car and Truck Show will benefit a group of Carson Valley Boy Scouts on August 14.
