Chris Sutton says two Arsenal players were bullied on Monday night as Crystal Palace claim 3-0 win

Chris Sutton narrated the BBC Live cover of Crystal Palace’s 3-0 win over Arsenal that Ben White and Gabriel were bullied by Palace striker Jean-Philippe Mateta. Palace shocked many, picking up a heavy victory.

Goals from Mateta, Jordan Ayew and Wilfried Zaha saw Patrick Vieira throw a spanner in the works against the side he won so much with. The Gunners remain fifth, after Tottenham overtook the Gunners on Sunday.

It was a night of defensive errors for Arsenal, which has been so different to them this season. The combination of Ben White and Gabriel worked brilliantly – but with Takehiro Tomiyasu and Kieran Tierney.

But without those two full-backs, Arsenal looked sloppy at the back. Sutton delivered his full-time verdict – claiming £9m (Sky) Mateta bullied the Arsenal duo throughout the game, with White and Gabriel at fault.

“Wilfried Zaha seems to be absolutely on top of his game and Jean-Philippe Mateta this season has been excellent. He bullied Arsenal’s centre-backs. Conor Gallagher was here, there and everywhere. Palace was excellent.

Sutton on Gabriel, White: the Arsenal duo a thousand miles from the best brilliant at Palace

Gabriel and White combined superbly. They gave Arsenal the defensive platform, with Aaron Ramsdale, for the midfield and attack going forward. They are good enough to be trusted.

But Monday night, they looked fragile. They looked under pressure for the first time and it could be that the brilliant form of Tottenham, Arsenal’s first real threat to the top four, could add to the pressure.
